DAY 1 Sean and Jeff started out from Whitehaven on one of the wettest days in Cumbria this year. A Severe Weather Warning was issued this morning for high winds and heavy rain but I guess that was what the waterproofs were for! The climb out of Whitehaven lasted for 8 Miles and took them over Whinlatter Pass at a hieght of 1043 feet above sea level. The total distance covered in day 1 was 58.5 miles and by the end of it Sean said they had achieved "Soakem Equilibrium". I think he made this up but he said it meant they were as wet inside as they were outside. A Steak and Chips meal and a good nights rest and they will be ready for Day 2..............hopefully!

Unfortunately due to a family bereavement Steve Eyre and I (Steve Beckett) are unable to take part in the C2C Cylce Challenge this weekend. However, we have re-arranged for the two of us to complete the challenge in September so please keep the donations coming in. We will be completing the challenge in memory of our loving Mother-in-Law Alice Cowley who sadly passed away on Sunday 11th June 2010. In the meantime Sean and Jeff have started the challenge as planned and I will post their progress on these pages.
